The Week that was...

So I finally got around to find out what the numbers were for this art exhibition I try to do every year. I submitted 4 pieces a combination of photos and digital prints. Entries #3495-8 are my entries to the 6X6X2014 at the Rochester Contemporary Art Center. This is the link. Feel free to peruse the images there. You don't have to purchase mines. There are over 6,000 pieces up that can be purchased. All pieces are just $20. The go on sale globally on June 10, 2014 at 10am EST. Treat yourself.

Also I have been trying to edit and upload some of my work to my RedBubble site. This past week they started selling Totes and Throw pillows. Right now I have they at a low introductory price but I definitely plan on selling them at a little higher price. So if you have any people who are interested make sure you jump on them now. I need to get other images "printable-ready" so they look good on what ever they get printed on. That's all I have for you guys this week.

Until next week...

Getting it done...

I have a lot that I want to share with you guys but not this week. This week I just have another image of the piece I sold a few weeks ago. It's still a little rough around the edges though. I should be finished it tomorrow but I wanted to show you guys where it's at now. Also next week I'll post images of the work I am putting in the 6X6X2013 at Rochester Contemporary Art Center in Rochester, NY.

I got a couple of blog posts that I have been writing on and off for the past couple of months. One is a blog that I am writing for my tech blog but I want to post it here to share with you guys so come back for that soon.

Until next week...

Happy Born-Day, Jean-Michel Basquiat...

On this day in Brooklyn, NY 52 years ago, one of the greatest artist whoever lived was born.  Jean-Michel Basquiat in the 80s was one of the most iconic artists of his time.  He tackled issues of race, power struggle and self-identity and created works; which inspired many of artists in his time and in the present.

I, myself become aware of his work while studying in art school.  I had one of my classmates mention to me how my work seemed to be heavily influenced by Basquiat.  I am not ashamed to say that I knew nothing of this artist growing up as a kid in the 80s.  After doing a little interwebs and library research, I found that I was one, familiar with some of his work already and two, I could see where some of the similarities were in our styles.  From that moment, I resolved to become familiar with this great artist.  Just reading quotes by him and also finding archived footage of his interviews (which were really powerful) were very informative.  This great artist was taken from the world all too soon.  It was and is great to see that in his brief time on this planet, he influenced so much of our culture.  He is still influencing us.  I know he has influenced me and I consider him to be one of the artist that I do idolize. Untitled(Skull) is one of my favorite pieces of his.  Maybe one day I will own a print of it.  Just thought I'd share a little of my feelings/insights on this great artist on his birthday.  Just a little...

Congrats on surviving the apocalypse!!  Until next week...
