Another week in the books...

I am going to make sure that the rest of this year that I will be applying for call for entries and getting back to creating art. I'm even planning on sending in a couple of pieces for this 6X6 event that I used to do the last couple of years but missed out on last year because I forgot.

I just want to get back to normal. I've been off my game for so long. Time to get back.

That's all for now.

Until next week...

New Years Resolution...

Hello faithful few. I am still working on my video short. It's not quite ready for public consumption that's why I don't have it for this weeks' post. Hopefully I have it done by next week.

Anywhoogle, I figured I would post a couple of my New Years Resolutions. A few that I would actually like to share.

1. Continue to work towards getting healthier.
2. Get back to create art more on a regular basis.
3. Brush up on my Japanese. Or at least get back to where I was in my college years with the language and build upon it.
4. Can't stress this one enough... Create art more.

That's all I think I'll share this week with you guys this week.

Until next week...

I started working on a "not so random" random short for you guys this past week. I'm not quite finished with it yet and that's why I didn't post it this week. Hopefully I get it done this week for you guys. Keep your fingers crossed. That's it for me this week guys.

Until next week...

New Work IN Progress . .

Hello faithful few...here is a quick snapshot of what I am working on right now. I am trying to achieve some sort of mastery with these digital sketch apps.

The few times I have used these apps, I have been amazed at how much you can actually do with them. The sketch that I posted I am working on with an app called ArtFlow. I have a couple of other apps that I am trying to get into on my iPad. I'm using ArtFlow on my phone. So I love the fact that I have it so readily accessible whenever I have a spare moment. And it's a plus that it works with the S-pen and is pressure sensitive. So you can achieve hard and soft lines.

I might do a review of the apps I'm trying at a later date. Well that's all I have for you guys this week.

Until next week...

A Couple of Images...

Well, as you can see faithful few I have been quite productive by my standards this week.

The pencil sketch is a study for the Darth Maul that I started in the other image. The digital image I've started in an app called Infinite Painter on my Samsung Note 3. So far I've worked on it for a little over 4 hours. I'm going to work on it some more on my phone and then probably import it into Photoshop to finish it off. And as usual, I will definitely share with you guys. That's all I have for you guys this week.

Until next week...

The "Author" or something like it...

I need to blog more on my other blogs. I have them right at my fingertips just like this one so there should be no excuse. I don't see a reason as to why I haven't considering all I'd have to write about are things that describe me or that I use everyday in my life.

I think going forward I think I shall endeavor to write more. Plus writing really helps me to focus and keeps the wheel turning in my mind. Write... Write...write...write...

Until next week...

WIP... AFROSoul

Here is a piece that I started working on this past week. It's a little rough, gotta work on the lines some and then I'm going to manipulate the image a whole hell of a lot digitally. Probably in photoshop. I show you guys the finished piece in a week or so... Hopefully😊

That's all for this week.

Until next week...

#WinterIsComing

New things are happening for me faithful few. I'm not going to talk about them just yet but know that they are coming.

I know this is a really quick post this weekend but I promise that pretty soon the post will be back to normal, long-winded format 😊

Greatness has to be continually cultivated...

I have been working in my sketchbook everyday this year so far. I have really gotten into the habit of just pulling it out and working in it.

I have told myself that I need to treat it more like a creative journal. So the days that I don't sketch in it, I just put down my thoughts or I brainstorm. It's a pretty good feeling to start something and stick with it. Now if I can get the rest of my life to go this good. The Struggle is real. That's it for now folks. I will get up with you guys next week. Also on a big note, I'll be a year older then.

Until next week...

An Agent named...

I paid it forward this week.

I had a guy call me about an art project he needed done. He found my number on a business card I had posted on a bulletin board in an art store back home in Baltimore. He needed it in a couple of days and needed the exchange to happen fast. I told him that I no longer was local and now living in Charlotte. I then told him that I did know a couple of other artists who dealt in portraiture and that I would reach out to them. The artist that eventually did wowed the guy. The guy texted me back a picture of the finished piece and he was extremely happy with it and glad that I could refer him to someone else.

Really made me feel good to help somebody out even when I couldn't actually do the work for him. Maybe I have a calling as an art dealer/agent. Who knows...

Well that's all I have for you guys this week.

Until next week...

I leaped without looking and I loved it...

In another couple of weeks, it will be a year since I walked away from job and then 2 weeks later; I left Baltimore. It's still quite surreal when I think about it. One of the things I used to talk about when I first started this blog was taking chances and my hesistance to do so often. But lo and behold, I go and take a giant leap of faith. Talk about taking chances!

Now don't get me wrong, it definitely hasn't been a cakewalk or easy. I can say that it truly has been a learning experience for me, as well as a trying time. (Man, I've used a lot of commas so far in this post). I feeling pretty optimistic about my future and future prospects. Adult Choices is something I have dwelled on in the past and I find myself increasingly making more and more of them. I guess I am finally starting to lose that contentment quality that I have had all those years. I've never been a free spirit so to speak but I will latch onto something if it feels real comfortable. I guess that's the main reason that I'm feeling good about my situation because it's ever-ever-changing. Nothing is stagnant or comfortable. Almost everyday is a new adventure, a new struggle,  a new learning experience and I am kind of loving every minute of it just a little bit in the back of my mind. The rest of my mind thinks I'm just strange, lol. That's it for this week guys.

Until next week...

The Week that Was...

So another week down,  another week coming up. I am actually starting to lose track of these weeks. I mean did you guys know that this week coming up is the last  full week of August! Wow...

I am going to try and get back into my sketchbook very soon. Me and one of my ex-coworkers are trying to be each other's accountability partners when it comes to art. Trying to make sure that no matter what struggle we are having that we are still as artist creating. You guys know I have been having issues lately with producing work. I'm hoping this jump-starts my creativity. What ever I do in my sketchbook, I will definitely share with you guys. Well that's all I have for you guys this weekend.

Until next week...

Rockin a 'Fro...

This weekend came up on me so fast. It's like I get so caught up in other things that I seem to get behind in other stuff.

I didn't get around to to finishing the one piece but I did almost finish up the other one I talked about last week. I thought I would share that one with you guys this weekend. So without further ado...

I don't have a title for it yet and I need to tweak it a little more but it's just about done. Next week I hope to have the other one at least half done so I can share with you guys.

Until then...

The Week that was...

So I finally got around to find out what the numbers were for this art exhibition I try to do every year. I submitted 4 pieces a combination of photos and digital prints. Entries #3495-8 are my entries to the 6X6X2014 at the Rochester Contemporary Art Center. This is the link. Feel free to peruse the images there. You don't have to purchase mines. There are over 6,000 pieces up that can be purchased. All pieces are just $20. The go on sale globally on June 10, 2014 at 10am EST. Treat yourself.

Also I have been trying to edit and upload some of my work to my RedBubble site. This past week they started selling Totes and Throw pillows. Right now I have they at a low introductory price but I definitely plan on selling them at a little higher price. So if you have any people who are interested make sure you jump on them now. I need to get other images "printable-ready" so they look good on what ever they get printed on. That's all I have for you guys this week.

Until next week...

The Dharma and the Sea or The Old Man and Bums...

Hey faithful few, I know I said that I would post images for you guys this week and I have started working on them but I want to expand upon my post from last week.

The other day I was thinking about letting go and taking leaps of faith and how for the most part of my life how I've played it safe...and then I thought how I decided a few weeks ago to take a giant leap and break that habit of playing it safe. I then realized that I was finally feeling the wind beneath my feet.

Today its been 1 month to the date that I moved Baltimore to Charlotte.

I feel like such a free spirit right now....like Hemingway or Kerouac...a lot of times the feeling is euphoric but also in a catch-22-kind of way its harrowing. I say harrowing because for someone who has almost always played it safe, this sort of feeling seems like it can lead to "slackitude-ness" or carelessness. Even though I have mixed thoughts on this feeling, I am enjoying it. I'm enjoying it because its a new feeling for me. It's fun. My mind right now feels so clear right now. I gotta say that right now I am in a very good place. I wish I would have done this years ago.

The image below is one of the pics I took a couple of weeks ago. I figured I'd post at least one image for you guys this week...again I am going to try and get some more for you guys next week.

Until then...

And just like a bird in winter, I'm flying south...

So this is my first post after the beginning of my life-changing decisions. This time next week, I will be in my new home...in my new city...in my new state. I have to say that I am pretty excited about it.

I'm going to finally get a chance in the beginning of my getting acclimated to a new environment, to spend some time focusing more on my art. I am very fortunate in the beginning to be able to devote time while I am looking for employment. Its going to be great.

That's all I have for you guys today but I will be back next week from Charlotte, NC.

Until then...

The Eye

So this week I present a video for your viewing pleasure. I was a little perturbed at how iMovie was handling my video clips so I abandoned the project and just used YouTube's video editor to put the clips together to make one video. So without further ado...

It's going down...

I haven't created in the last couple of days. Not too long ago just the thought of that would make me wonder if I was getting bored with what I was doing. This time though its not even remotely the case. Mentally the last couple of days I have been trying to get some rest. It's definitely been working for. I have been getting my mind focused on steadily producing things.
I want to try and work on more of what I see in my mind. You know you get an idea in your head and then you deviate from that idea only to realize that now you are worried more about aesthetic and less about content...I find myself doing this a lot and its a habit that I definitely need to break.
I am going to take some pics next week of the piece I'm working on now. It's coming along really good. It's definitely done in my style (man, I've used "definitely" a lot in this post) It's still in its early stages but not too rough. I can already see where it's going and where I want it to go. Can't wait to share it. Until next time...
