Shitsurei Shimasu or Sayonara...

So this is my last post on blogspot. My blog is officially live @ArtStar.

Its been funny the last almost 9 years here on blogspot but as Skynyrd said, "...for I must be travelin' on now, there's too many places I got to see..." As I said last week, I will continue to blog every week so if you happen upon this page and want to read more of my ramblings follow me to WordPress. That's it.

For the last time...

I have done it...

So I have officially moved my blog to WordPress. I don't have it live yet because I still need to tweak it and work out some bugs but this is one of my last, if not my last, post here on blogspot. I am going to continue to blog every week. So I am not going anywhere any time soon. That's all for now.

Until next week...maybe...

Another week in the books...

I am going to make sure that the rest of this year that I will be applying for call for entries and getting back to creating art. I'm even planning on sending in a couple of pieces for this 6X6 event that I used to do the last couple of years but missed out on last year because I forgot.

I just want to get back to normal. I've been off my game for so long. Time to get back.

That's all for now.

Until next week...

Blah

So this week I wasn't to pressed to blog. I waited until almost the last minute to even open up this app to post this blog. Anyway...I think I am going to finally transition my blogger account to a WordPress one. Haven't been feeling blogspot that last couple of months.
Until next week...maybe...

The Week that was…

So last week I was using the Blogger app on my phone, when it crashed on me while it was publishing my post. It kind of sucked because I had talked about me trying to transition from vegetarian to vegan.  Blah. I didn't want to go through the whole process of typing it again so I left it in limbo. I just remembered about it as I was contemplating what I wanted to post this week. I'm going to keep it short and just say that Tuesday of this week will be my 2nd week of being vegan. It's been an easy transition…just don't know yet after the third week if I am going to continue it. That's all I have for now.

Until next week…

New Years Resolution...

Hello faithful few. I am still working on my video short. It's not quite ready for public consumption that's why I don't have it for this weeks' post. Hopefully I have it done by next week.

Anywhoogle, I figured I would post a couple of my New Years Resolutions. A few that I would actually like to share.

1. Continue to work towards getting healthier.
2. Get back to create art more on a regular basis.
3. Brush up on my Japanese. Or at least get back to where I was in my college years with the language and build upon it.
4. Can't stress this one enough... Create art more.

That's all I think I'll share this week with you guys this week.

Until next week...

New Work IN Progress . .

Hello faithful few...here is a quick snapshot of what I am working on right now. I am trying to achieve some sort of mastery with these digital sketch apps.

The few times I have used these apps, I have been amazed at how much you can actually do with them. The sketch that I posted I am working on with an app called ArtFlow. I have a couple of other apps that I am trying to get into on my iPad. I'm using ArtFlow on my phone. So I love the fact that I have it so readily accessible whenever I have a spare moment. And it's a plus that it works with the S-pen and is pressure sensitive. So you can achieve hard and soft lines.

I might do a review of the apps I'm trying at a later date. Well that's all I have for you guys this week.

Until next week...

A trip to the Art Store...

So today I went to the art store and I felt overwhelmed...more like a kid in a candy store a pocketful of change or in a toy store with an endless supply of money. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I had a lot of money but I found it hard to decide what to buy. I WANTED IT ALL!

There were times when I was in an aisle and I was just staring off into "artmosphere". It was just so hard to choose exactly what I wanted. I ended up getting a couple canvas panels and 6"X6" wood panels. I also picked up a couple of secret items that I can't share right now because it will spoil a surprise

Today was the first day of my long weekend and I did a little creating and also messed around a bit in photoshop. It's been a minute since I've actually used photoshop so Ive been trying to get used to using it again. Next week I will have some images to show you guys but that's all for now.

Until next week...

A Little Update...

I think in the coming weeks I am going to finally overhaul my blog like I mentioned a while ago. I definitely probably transition my blog from Blogspot to Wordpress.

I also will be posting more random drawings and images that I have been messing around with. I really need to get back to blogging the content the way I used to when I first started this blog. Well that's all I have for you guys this week. Just a little update.

Until next week...

A Couple of Images...

Well, as you can see faithful few I have been quite productive by my standards this week.

The pencil sketch is a study for the Darth Maul that I started in the other image. The digital image I've started in an app called Infinite Painter on my Samsung Note 3. So far I've worked on it for a little over 4 hours. I'm going to work on it some more on my phone and then probably import it into Photoshop to finish it off. And as usual, I will definitely share with you guys. That's all I have for you guys this week.

Until next week...

The Weeks' Ahead...

In the coming weeks, I plan on trying to get as much writing and art done as I possibly can. I have so many ideas and thoughts locked away in my head that just seems to be going to waste.

I have so many sketches and rough drafts in various stages of completion that I need to make sure that I get them done. There is no excuse for my procrastination. I've been trying to make sure that I stay motivated and focused. I'm going to get back to working in my sketchbook everyday. I occasionally do doodles and sketches at work that I've put in my sketchbook but I don't carry my sketchbook as often as I used to do. That's going to change. Well that's it for this weekend. Not too much going on as of yet.

 Until next week...

New...the need to be loved and "Scoping"

So. Have you guys tried this new social site linked to Twitter? It's called Periscope. It's a pretty good social tool. It allows you to connect to others all round the world via a streaming video broadcast. I have done a few myself. (Every time I do one though, I feel like such a noob!)

I've been finding out more and more about this site the last couple of days. One thing Periscope allows you to do is give the broadcasters ❤️. The hearts is like the same system of favoriting a tweet or "liking" a post on Facebook except that I just found out the more hearts you get the higher you rate and get featured on the front page.

To me so far, the biggest draw is the voyeuristic nature of Periscope. You can hope around all over the world and view people's "Scopes" as they call them. It's that almost immediate connection with a total stranger which draws you in. You can also interact with the broadcasters. A lot of people also grow their list of followers by scoping everyday and often. People hold church, webinars, tutorials and they even livestream performances and shows.

I think you guys should check it out. But be  wary, it can be quite addictive. If you follow me on Twitter, you can get notified when I do a Scope @ArtstarV9 is my Twitter handle. See you there.

That's all for this week. Until next time...

I have decided...

So I have finally decided that starting either Monday or Wednesday, that for the rest of the month; I plan on going Vegan. I also found out the exact date that I became a Vegetarian and it was 5 years this past Thursday that I gave up meat. Wow! Crazy right?

Some of you are probably going, 5 years without even a piece of chicken?? That seems like a long time right? But as you guys know, time flies when you are having fun😊.

I wonder how devoted I can to adopting a vegan diet because I definitely know I won't be really living the lifestyle. I can't see me not buying items made with leather or animal products. I mean I'm going to do my best not to eat any dairy or eggs but as far as anything else, right now I can't wrap my mind around not having or using. That's all I have for you guys this weekend. I know these is my 3rd straight post about these topic but hopefully next weeks will be different...😉

Until next week...

Rhetorical or Sometimes you feel like a Reeses'

I want to get back in to creating mixed media pieces. Some small assemblage pieces. I have been accumulating little small found pieces and objects lately that I feel fit together quite well. I really want to get back in to the habit of creating art on a regular basis again. I have kind of gotten too comfortable in this lackadaisical way of living, I mean now and then I will doodle or draw a little something but I haven’t done anywhere near a significant body of work in almost 2 years! That’s no way for an artist to live. I mean sure I have faced some hardships and uncertainties but that’s no excuse. Artists are supposed to thrive during adversity. So why haven’t I? That’s a rhetorical question. It was meant to invoke thought in to my head as I type this post.

I tend to get too stuck in a rut or worried up creating the perfect image or crank out the best possible image that I almost entirely forget about the artistic processes. I forget that ugly line or ugly section eventually turns in to something you can use or not. Either way, you go right back to the drawing board (pun, intended) and work on the next thing.

It really all boils down to having confidence in your work. It’s so easy to see other artist out there cranking out work and thinking to yourself, what am I doing wrong or what am I not doing right?? The question should be why am I, not doing PERIOD!!!

I went from consistently coming up with ideas to consistently getting caught up in the idea of not being able to come up with any good ideas. How do you resolve those types of issues in your head when you have other issues going on in your head?

Well that’s all I have for you guys this weekend.

Until next week…

314 or I like Pi too.

I thought I'd share a bit of my new artist statement with you guys. So without further ado...

My work through the years has evolved, devolved and evolved again. Everything I have done so far in my work has been a culmination of experiences, research, pain, love, growth, and maturation.

The focus of my work always gas an underlying theme of mood. That is to say, that no matter the subject or subject matter; my work will always reflect my mood. It won't just reflect my mood because of my style but my mood as a whole. Similar images/subjects may be drawn or painted in the same style but the weight of the line or stroke will be different depending on my mood.

That's all I have written so far. Hopefully I'll finish it in the next few days and I also have forgotten that I have a couple of post that I need to write that I want to share with you guys.

Until next week...

The Artist is here...

Last few days I have been feeling really motivated. I have some ideas that I will be committing to pencil and paper. They really kind of hit me all of a sudden. I don't know if it was because of the new mental space that I am in or because it was it's time to come out. Nonetheless, I am really excited about the direction my creative process is taking me.

I feel like I have gotten back a little piece of my artistic soul. I guess it's the upside of being in a good place.

I'm going to start back sharing images with you guys. Might even do some video as well. I am so encouraged right now... It's amazing. That's all I have for you guys this week though.

Until next week...
